Cross-cutting issues

Cross-cutting Themes and Methodologies (CCT and CCM) must be given careful attention throughout the SYR. The SYR intends to give added value to the three Working Group (WG) contributions to the AR5 and special reports, notably by addressing the interrelations and cross-cutting themes between the 3 WG reports. To that end, efficient interactions will take place between the SYR Core Writing Team (CWT) and the Working Group writing teams throughout the assessment period. The Vice-Chairs of the IPCC will also be actively involved in the treatment of the cross-cutting themes, since they have been given specific responsibilities in this regard.

Cross-cutting themes (CCT) and methodologies (CCM) of the AR5

  • Consistent Evaluation of Uncertainties and Risks (CCM)
  • Costing and Economic Analysis (CCM)
  • Regional Aspects (CCM)
  • Water and the Earth system: changes, impacts and responses (CCT)
  • Carbon Cycle including ocean acidification (CCT)
  • Ice Sheets and Sea-Level Rise (CCT)
  • Mitigation, Adaptation and Sustainable Development (CCT)
  • Issues related to Article 2 of the UNFCCC (CCT)
